2012 has turned out to be an epic season for the 1st team.
We have accomplished what no other Canterbury football team has ever done.
A complete clean sweep of all four trophies on offer for our region.
1. We started it all off by regaining The Hurley Shield and successfully defending it to the end of the season.
2. We claimed back to back Mainland Premier League titles, winning the league by 5 points.
3. Bays became the 1st ever Canterbury team to claim The South Island Championship, defeating previously unbeaten Dunedin side Caversham 3-1
4. Our 4th trophy came with a 3-1 win (aet & penalties) over local rivals Coastal Spirit in the English Cup Final.
Absolutely magnificent boys well done.
We can now look forward to hopefully cleaning up at the Mainland Awards Night in 3 weeks time.
Our 1st Team made history on Saturday when they lifted the South Island Champions Trophy. After beating Caversham of Dunedin 3-1 we became the first ever winners of this prestigeous trophy from The Mainland Region.
Congratulations to the Bays 1st Team on winning the Mainland Premier League for a record 4th time. After closest challengers Cashmere Tech and third place Nelson Suburbs both dropped points yesterday, Bays had to beat Halswell in the late game to clinch the title.
A Wiremu Piercey penalty was enough to give The Bays back to back titles.
Well done to all the players in the squad and well done to our management team, 1st team coach Mick Braithwaite, his assistant Dave Grice, along with Andrew and Erna Rogers.
The 1st team are now into their final stages of the Mainland Premier League season. Currently, Bays are 3 points clear of second placed Cashmere Tech with only 3 games to play.
This means that because of our superior goal difference, 2 wins from these final 3 games could be enough to claim back to back league titles. Although nothing will be taken for granted and top quality performances will still be required.
The draw for the semi-finals of the English Cup has been made. The games are as follows...
Thurs 16th August Nomads United v Ferrymead Bays
Thurs 23rd August Coastal Spirit v Western.
Both games 7:00pm kick off at ASB Football Park.
The remaining 2 Mainland Premier League teams were eliminated in the latest round of Chatham Cup games.
Cashmere Tech lost 4-2 away v Caversham and Western went down 1-0 away to Dunedin Tech.
Both were attempting to reach the quarter finals.
Nelson Suburbs visited Barnett Park for a top of the table MPL Clash on Sunday.
The score finished 1 apiece and with a bit more luck we could easily have taken all three points.
Bays defeated FC Twenty11 3-1 in their English Cup quarter final at Barnett Park. A brace of goals by Russell Kamo and one from Craig Harrison were enough to see us progress into the last four.

Bays made an early exit from The Chatham Cup. Going down 4-2 away at Coastal Spirit.
Bays led 2-1 at half time but following a red card for hand ball, had to play the whole of the 2nd half with 10 men. This proved too much against a resiliant Coastal side that converted their chances in the second half and made the extra man tell..
There are 5 byes in the draw for the 1st round of the English Cup.
Bays are drawn against Hornby FC from one of the lower leagues.
The game is scheduled for Thursday 31st May with a 7pm kick-off.
